2020 – A Look Back

2020. How excited I was for the start of a new decade, a new chapter. I thought this is THE year everything great will happen. My skills are improving, my work is starting to sell, so plans for 2020 began in earnest. As an artist I encountered many ups and downs along the way as well as personally. When I look back and focus on the accomplishments, wow, so proud of how far this little art business has come in a few years. Learning curves and challenges aside, it was a very amazing year. New Studio Space - A True Gift

The kitchen table is where a lot of us emerging artists seem to create artwork. Unfortunately that puts us smack dab in the middle of children, pets, cooking, cleaning and many more distractions. I’ve been dreaming of a dedicated studio space for a few years now. Enter the basement space…duh-da-duhhh. We have a 900 square-foot space downstairs that has accumulated “stuff” (please listen to George Carlin’s bit on Stuff, it’s brilliant) over the 20+ years I’ve been living here.

Why I became an artist

My earliest memory of drawing and coloring as a young girl was such a fond memory. Growing up, after dinner, my mom would wipe down the kitchen table and me and my two younger sisters would grab our crayons and clean sheets of 8.5 x 11 paper or coloring books and just color and chit chat. Looking back on that time I see that it was a clever way of my mom keeping tabs on what was happening in our busy lives in the 70’s.
